Meet Makiah
Makiah Corum, M.Ed., is a children’s author, educator, and mother passionate about creating stories that empower children to embrace who they are.
With a background in elementary education and literacy, her work blends storytelling, confidence-building, and representation in ways that feel meaningful for both children and families.
As the founder of Makiah’s Bookshelf, she partners with schools, families, and brands to make storytelling feel engaging, intentional, and impactful.
“I wrote the stories I wish I had growing up. They are books that remind Black girls they can be unapologetically themselves.“
- Makiah Corum, Pattengill Elementary Author Visit (2024)
In addition to her work in education and publishing, Makiah shares her lifestyle as an NFL wife, entrepreneur, and mother to her growing online community. She continues to inspire women and families with authenticity, style, and purpose.
Makiah’s Bookshelf was created with one mission in mind: to inspire confidence, literacy and self-empowerment in children through storytelling and meaningful community engagement.
The platform is dedicated to creating a safe uplifting space where children, especially young Black girls, feel seen, celebrated, and encouraged to dream body!
